What the sign-up form keeps
Section titled “What the sign-up form keeps”If you fill in the form on Try it early, we keep:
- your email address
- what you wrote about what you make
- whether you ticked “tell me when sync ships”
- your answer to “would you pay that for sync”, if you gave one
- the day you signed up
- the link you came in on, if it said where it was posted
That’s so Ev can write to you about trying JamChip, tell you when sync ships if you asked, and count how many would pay for it. Nothing else is kept. Your IP address is counted for a minute, to stop one place sending hundreds of sign-ups, and never saved. The form sets no cookie and runs no tracker.
Your details are never shared or sold. They stay until you ask for them to go, or until the tester list closes.
Coming off the list
Section titled “Coming off the list”Email hello@jamchip.com and your row is deleted.
What the tester gate keeps
Section titled “What the tester gate keeps”Until the launch, the zip download and the app at app.jamchip.com are only for testers Ev has invited. Cloudflare Access checks who’s let in. Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts this site, runs Access for us. It uses what Access keeps to let you in, and, as with everything that passes through Cloudflare, to spot and block attacks.
If you’re invited, Access keeps:
- your email address, on the invite list
- a log of each time you log in: your email address, your IP address and its country, whether you opened the zip or the app, the time, and whether you got in. Cloudflare deletes each entry after 24 hours
- your email address and when you last logged in, on Cloudflare’s list of everyone who’s ever logged in
- your address being added to the invite list and taken off it, which may show in Cloudflare’s record of changes to our settings, kept for 18 months
To check it’s you, Cloudflare emails a one-time code to that address. Once you’re in, cookies from Cloudflare keep you logged in, for up to a month. If you aren’t invited and type your address at the gate, no code is sent, though the try may show in the same 24-hour log.
Your address stays on the invite list until you ask for it to go.
Coming off the invite list
Section titled “Coming off the invite list”Email hello@jamchip.com. Ev takes your address off the invite list, logs you out of Access everywhere, and frees your place. The log of your logins clears itself within a day. Cloudflare doesn’t let us delete your entry on its list of everyone who’s ever logged in, and sends requests to delete it back to us. So it stays there, marked inactive: your email address and when you last logged in.
Everything else
Section titled “Everything else”The rest of the site keeps nothing about you. It’s built from the plugin’s source, and the build checks that nothing on it loads from a host that isn’t its own.
